Create a Price Book Item
Add a price book item with name, pricing, and attributes ready for estimates.
Create a Price Book Item with Components
Build a price book item linked to inventory components for rolled-up cost.
Automatic Cost & Pricing is the workflow at /pricebook. When a price book item has inventory components, ServiceFlow rolls up material cost and can calculate unit price from cost + markup. Open an item with linked components to Edit. Review Inventory Components and the Pricing section on the same form.
Category-level markup defaults: Settings to Category Markup (/settings/category-markup). Component cost (default), Sum each linked part’s (quantity × unit cost). Unit cost uses the component override or the inventory item’s cost. Kit cost, Enter one flat bundled cost instead of summing components when Use kit cost is on. Unit price, Typically cost × (1 + markup ÷ 100) when component-based pricing is active. Category markup defaults, Pre-fill markup for new items in a category. Good / Better / Best, Tiered estimate options under Settings to General Settings (separate from cost math). Bulk price updates, Change markup or prices across many items via Bulk Price Book Updates. Price book item has inventory components (for roll-up) or a defined kit cost. Inventory costs are reasonably current (updated when POs are received). Understand whether you price from component sum or kit cost before editing high-volume SKUs.
Overview
When a price book item has inventory components, ServiceFlow rolls up material cost and can calculate unit price from cost + markup—so bundled services stay priced consistently.

Prerequisites
- Price book item has inventory components (for roll-up) or a defined kit cost.
- Inventory costs are reasonably current (updated when POs are received).
- Understand whether you price from component sum or kit cost before editing high-volume SKUs.
Step-by-step
Review pricing on an item with components
- Price Book → open item → Edit.
- Inventory Components — confirm parts, quantities, and extended cost.
- Pricing — confirm cost (component roll-up or kit cost), markup %, and unit price.
- Save.
Switch to kit cost
- On the Pricing tab, enable Use kit cost.
- Enter Kit cost (labor + materials combined, or vendor kit price).
- Save. Component roll-up will not overwrite kit cost while kit mode is selected.
After receiving inventory
- Receive the PO under Inventory → Purchase Orders.
- Reopen high-volume price book bundles and confirm margin still looks right.
- Use Bulk Edit if you need a markup pass across a category.
Current limitations
- Cost roll-up uses your inventory and price book data, not live big-box or distributor API pricing.
- Receiving a PO does not automatically rewrite every linked price book unit price—review or bulk-edit as needed.
- Bulk apply sets pricing fields directly with no auto-recalculation from markup in that flow; the per-item editor still recalculates when you change cost/markup there.
- Discount line items auto-set non-taxable; mixed tax scenarios on bundles need manual review.
Roadmap
- Optional auto-refresh prompts when component inventory costs change materially.
- Bulk edit modes that recalculate unit price from markup after cost changes.
- Margin alerts on price book list when rolled cost exceeds sell price.
